Sometimes, a “failure” is simply an idea
waiting to be understood.
In 1968, a scientist at 3M was trying to create a very strong adhesive. Instead, he accidentally created one that was weak and reusable.
At first, it seemed like a failure.
For years, nobody knew what to do with it. Then another 3M employee had an idea: what if this adhesive could hold a piece of paper without damaging the page?
That simple idea eventually became the Post-it Note — something now used around the world.
